ACCOMMODATION AROUND CHILDER WOOD

Listed here in rough order of closeness to the woods.

Hansnett Farm is a family owned working rare breeds farm. It is closest to the wood, 1/2 a mile away over the road between Childer Wood and Hansnett Wood. Breeders of Devon Red Poll cattle and Shropshire sheep. Sue Farquhar, 01531 670439

Canon Frome Court is a housing association set-up with separate owner-occupied units and differing types of accommodation. It is about 1 mile towards the A417 from Childer Wood. Childer Wood used to be one of the estate owned woodlands. Brigid, 01531 670540; Suzanna, 01531 670497; Saffron, 01531 670744www.canonfromecourt.org.uk

Woodend Farm is also quite close, just past Blacklands Garage on a quiet back road. David and Sandra used to run the Verzons Hotel when it was highly rated (unlike now!) and have renovated a timber framed barn (using Childer Wood timber for this and for their house!) to make a high quality but still reasonably priced B+B. Sandra and David Roberts, 01432 890227

Moor Court Farm is between Blacklands Garage and Newton Cross but off the main road at Stretton Grandison. 15th c traditional farm. Evening meal can be arranged. Elizabeth Godsall, 01531 670408

Pridewood Farm is at Ashperton. A family owned traditional farm growing hops for the beer trade amongst other produce.Julia, 01531 670416 www.pridewoodbandb.co.uk

The Oak Inn at Staplow is on the way to Ledbury. New B+B rooms offer a good standard of ensuite accommodation and good food 7 nights a week. 01531 640954. www.oakinnstaplow.co.uk

Old Country is a family owned traditional farm offering organic and locally produced food in a well appointed and beautifully restored timber framed farmhouse. Well behaved dogs by arrangement. Tucked away in a quiet spot behind Bosbury. Ella Quincey, 01886 880867. www.oldcountryhouse.co.uk
